AGE_GATE_UNAVAILABLE

Every new account passes through the age gate — a date-of-birth check required by COPPA, GDPR-K, UK OSA, CA AADC, and Texas SCOPE. The gate writes your age bracket (under 13 / 13–17 / 18+) to our database before it lets you continue.

AGE_GATE_UNAVAILABLE (HTTP 503) means the age-gate database call failed. Causes:

  • A momentary database connection blip during a deploy.
  • Postgres pool saturation under load.
  • The age-verification micro-service was restarting.

1. Wait 60-120 seconds, then refresh. Nine times out of ten, the issue clears in under two minutes.

2. Check the status page. status.vibecord.dev shows database health. If something’s red, we’re already on it.

3. Try a private window. Rules out a stale cookie holding onto a half-finished sign-up state.

4. Try again from scratch. Sign out, close all VibeCord tabs, sign in again. You’ll see the age-gate prompt; submit your DOB again.

Try sign-in again

If you keep getting AGE_GATE_UNAVAILABLE for more than 10 minutes and the status page is green:

We can check whether your account got partially created and clean it up if so.
