CODEX_TIMEOUT

VibeCord generations have a timeout (currently ~10 minutes). If a generation hasn’t finished within that window, it’s cancelled and you see CODEX_TIMEOUT.

This usually means one of three things:

  • The model got stuck — happens occasionally with any LLM
  • The prompt was very large — lots of files to write, lots of constraints to satisfy
  • The upstream provider is slow — model providers sometimes throttle or queue

1. Retry. The first try failed; the second usually works. Especially if the prompt was complex.

2. Simplify the prompt. If you keep timing out on the same prompt, it’s probably too much for one generation. Split it. Build the core first, iterate later.

3. Check the status page. status.vibecord.dev — if there’s a known incident, the timeout might be transient.

If retries keep timing out and the status page is green, drop a screenshot in Discord or email founder@vibecord.dev with your project name and approximate timestamp. We can check the generation logs.
