CODEX_RATE_LIMITED

What triggered it

VibeCord uses upstream model providers (OpenRouter, model-specific APIs) for generation. Sometimes they rate-limit us — too many requests across all VibeCord users in a short window.

When that happens, the affected generation fails with CODEX_RATE_LIMITED. This is not a per-account quota — it’s a transient platform-side issue.

Always retryable

Rate-limit errors are short-lived. Wait 30 seconds and retry.

What to try

1. Wait 30 seconds, retry. Most rate limits clear in well under a minute.

2. Try again at a less busy time. Rate limits are more common during peak hours. If you’re trying at 10pm on a launch day, things are busier.

3. Check the status page. status.vibecord.dev — if there’s a sustained provider incident, we’ll post it.

When to contact support

If retries keep hitting CODEX_RATE_LIMITED for many minutes:

• It’s likely a sustained upstream incident — check Discord #status first
• If status is green and the issue persists, drop a note in #help or email founder@vibecord.dev
