COST_CEILING_EXCEEDED

VibeCord uses two safety nets:

  1. Generation count cap (5/40/120/400 per month — see QUOTA_EXCEEDED)
  2. Cost ceiling — a per-account dollar cap on AI inference cost per window

The cost ceiling exists because some prompts are way more expensive than others (long iterations, big modpacks, large codebases). Without it, a single power-user could blow through their tier in one prompt. With it, your costs are predictable and we don’t have to surprise-bill you.

You hit COST_CEILING_EXCEEDED when your tier’s cost cap is reached for the current window.

1. Wait for the window reset. The error banner shows when the window resets — usually next day or next month depending on the cap.

2. Upgrade your tier. Higher tiers have higher cost ceilings. If you’re consistently hitting the cap, you’re probably on the wrong tier — see pricing.

3. Simplify your prompts. Long iterative builds rack up cost faster than one focused prompt. If you’re routinely hitting the ceiling, you might be overworking the AI — try smaller, more focused prompts.

If you’re hitting COST_CEILING_EXCEEDED on what look like normal prompts (not 30-command bots, not huge modpacks), email founder@vibecord.dev with your account email and the timestamp. The cap might be misconfigured for your tier and we can adjust.
